There comes a time in every engineers life when he or she gets a little bored over the summer. When you start looking through the house for things to start modeling in Pro E... Then I remembered I had a few projects that needed to get done this summer. First was a new Dog House for our little Yellow Lab puppy. The second was a nice workbench that I could continue to take apart things as the winter months started to drag on.
So with Internet research in-hand, I had a few ideas and decided to build both projects. The beauty of knowing Pro/ENGINEER for this type of work is that you can do all your design and planning in a 3D world. Pro/E - not just for work projects anymore. This got me thinking that developing a home project might be a pretty cool way to teach others how to use and learn ProE.
The idea is to take a project and show you how to build it from concept to completed project. The first in our Project:Learn ProE series will be one of the two topics mentioned above. However, I would like to get some input from fellow ProE users as to which project they would like to see.
The Dog House is your standard home for fido. Made of sturdy plywood and 2X4's, it will make your pooch the envy of the neighborhood. Mine turned out to be a pretty good replica of the house once all was said and done with the same siding, roofing, and paint as the house.
The Workbench on the other hand is a great present for yourself. If you are looking for a serious bench to build on, this is it. No wimpy Target benches here...
So, let us know what project you would like to see by adding comments to this Pro E Blog posting. The project will include all Part and Assembly files, Pro E Videos of the Modeling and Assembly process, and even images of the completed project.
