Intro To Pro/NC
This 2nd in the series on Pro E Advanced Assembly investigates the many ways Pro/ENGINEER helps to manage large assemblies. The larger and more complex a Pro E Advanced Assembly gets, the slower your hardware and software can keep up. Pro E Advanced Assembly techniques keep your system running smooth and fast when your assemblies get big. Simplified Representations are used to reduce the amount of information that Pro/E displays to the user. Creation of a new simplified rep is shown to remove geometry from the display. Additionally, a simplified rep is developed by excluding more complex features from the part model. Feature suppression can be used to simplify a part in order to increase retrieval, regeneration and repaint times. When a feature is removed from the model by suppression, the system will not regenerate the feature and the model appears as if the features had never been created. The suppressed features can be brought back to the model by resuming them. Another technique relative to Pro E Advanced Assembly techniques includes Read-Only features. Read only features allows for the designer to lock features within a model. This assures that specified dimensions associated to the features within the model cannot be modified intentionally.
