This Pro Engineer Assembly Tutorial covers several different types of Assembly Level Patterns and Mirroring Sub-Assemblies.

ProE Tutorial on Basic Assembly 4

Pro Engineer Assembly patterns can be created in two ways. The first way is to assemble to the leader of an existing component or feature pattern; then pattern it using “Ref Pattern” (Reference Pattern). Keep in mind, a pattern must already exist in order to “Reference” the pattern.

The second way is to create the pattern by itself using “Dim Pattern” (Dimension Pattern) with placement dimensions from the constraints applied when the component was assembled.

In Pro Engineer Assembly mode, just like in part mode, you can utilize the mirror option. The mirror option allows you to create a part that is a mirror image of another. You can mirror only one part at a time, and you can only mirror parts. The newly created mirrored part can be regenerated in part mode and placed in other Pro Engineer Assemblies. After the component to be mirrored is selected, you have the option to Reference or Copy. If you select Reference, the system always retrieves the part from which it was created.
