  Pro/ENGINEER Import and Export Training

Exporting 2D Drawings In Pro EngineerThe ability to Export 2D Drawings is critical to providing vendors and suppliers with Pro/ENGINEER Drawings when they don't use Pro/E.  Exporting is the process of translating the Pro/E file into a format that a receiving CAD application can understand.  While an exported CAD file does not typically retain the intelligence created in the original model, we will show you ways to ensure you send over the best file possible. Export file formats in this training include:

  • IGES
  • STEP
  • DXF
  • DWG

Importing 3D IGES Geometry Into Pro EngineerImporting is the process of opening a non-native file into the Pro/ENGINEER environment.  These files can be Drawings, Parts, and even Assemblies.  While the imported model may not have the parametric intelligence of a Pro/E built model, you can leverage the geometry for comparison or reconstruction purposes. Importing 2D Drawings is a fairly simple process, but there are some considerations to keep in mind during the import.  Additionally, this training demonstrates how to Import 3D IGES Geometry and begin to build a new model from the existing edges and curves.

 Available Import-Export Tutorials
Exporting 2D Drawings - (IE1) This Pro Engineer Export Tutorial Covers Exporting 2D Drawings as IGES, DXF, DWG, and more.
Importing 2D Drawings - (IE2) Continuing from the first tutorial in this series, this lesson covers Pro Engineer Import of non-Pro Engineer drawings into the Pro Engineer environment. In addition, also covered is importing information into an existing native Pro Engineer drawing.
Importing 3D IGES Geometry - (IE3) In this ProEngineer Import tutorial, you will learn how to use existing IGES geometry to create sketched features in Intent Manager.
