ProE Tutorial on Importing 3D IGES Geometry

All CAD systems operate in a different way. As a result, often times when importing a 3D CAD file into ProEngineer you will end up with unexpected results. Sometimes it works well while other times it does not. This ProEngineer Import lesson will show you how to take problem 3D imported files and utilize the geometry to recreate the model in ProEngineer.

By importing an IGES file, the user is left with several datum curves. By using the datum curves for an extrusion, a part can be created with ProEngineer features. Another example illustrated is importing 2D data into sketcher. From sketcher, a profile is used for a new extrusion. Either way, you will become familiar with new tools for working with bad CAD data.
