Creating and understanding Shells

This Pro Mechanica tutorial focuses on using shell geometry within Pro Mechanica to speed up and simplify your analysis.

ProE Tutorial on Creating and understanding Shells

This tutorial will guide you through some more advanced features of Pro Mechanica. Shells in Pro Mechanica are referring to making a thin walled part into a surface. The bigger a part is the bigger the mesh is for that part. By utilizing shell geometry, we can dramatically improve the runtime when analyzing our results.

For simple parts this may not be much of a big deal. However, when you are dealing with complex shapes or an assembly this can mean an incredible difference. The more elements the model has the longer it will take Pro Mechanica to run and converge on a good result. Using shells in Pro Mechanica will allow the size of the model to be smaller and able to converge on a result much quicker.
