 Solid Modeling: Advanced Draft Features

Advanced Draft Features

This follow up to the first Pro E Advanced Tutorial includes several different exercises on Split drafts using a neutral plane and a neutral curve.

ProE Tutorial on Advanced Draft Features

This second Pro E Advanced Tutorial on draft features builds upon the first Pro E Advanced Tutorial for simple draft features. Sometimes a more complicated draft is required than a simple single-plane along a neutral plane. If this is the case, this Pro E Advanced Tutorial will help.

Pro/ENGINEER offers a multitude of draft features. This Pro E Advanced Tutorial investigates the proper setup and uses for split drafts along a neutral plane or a neutral curve. Additionally, Variable angle drafts are investigated for applications requiring more complex draft geometry.

A draft hinge is a plane that the draft surfaces are pivoted about and this Pro E Advanced Tutorial will demonstrate. An easy way to think of a hinge is that along this plane the surfaces will stay the same size. Everything else will either start getting smaller or bigger depending on the angle you choose. A neutral curve acts the same way as a hinge. It acts as a pivot axis but can be a sketched curve that allows for more complex solutions.
