 Surfacing: Variable Section Sweeps

Variable Section Sweeps

This Pro-Engineer Surface tutorial uses a Variable Section Sweep to create a simple mouse design. Other features include creating spline curves and using Pro-Engineer Surface merge.

ProE Tutorial on Variable Section Sweeps

The last in the Pro-Engineer Surface subject series, this tutorial puts together the techniques learned from previous lessons.

The main Pro-Engineer Surface feature used in this tutorial is the Variable Section Sweep. A variable section sweep is an extremely powerful feature for two reasons: First, you can create very complex Pro-Engineer Surface geometry from one feature and usually define the main driving surface of a part from this one surface. Second, the variable section sweep is a ruled Pro-Engineer Surface, meaning the user has full control over the definition of the surface. This results in a very high quality surface, if used correctly.

This tutorial is designed to launch you into your new surfacing career. Upon completion, you should feel comfortable designing models with Pro-Engineer Surface geometry. If you're ready for the next step in solid modeling, this is the tutorial for you.
